Festivals and forgotten days

India shines with festivals — Navratri, Dussehra, Eid, Christmas, Onam — they bring joy and togetherness. But somewhere in the noise, days that once shaped our conscience — Gandhi Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, Constitution Day, Human Rights Day — quietly fade away. Festivals are beautiful, but they are not the whole story. A society is not judged by how loud it celebrates, but by how fair, just, and humane it remains. If we only remember rituals and forget values like equality, truth, and dignity, then celebration becomes shallow. Let’s celebrate festivals with joy, but also give space to the days that remind us why we are human. Both are needed — colors for the eyes, and values for the soul.
